Nova’s Story

Nova Kahra, a noble paladin, hailed from the once-great kingdom of Asher—or so she believed. Her earliest memories were of a grand voyage on the luxurious ocean cruiser, the Boundless, when she was just five years old. Her parents, once pillars of the community, had a shadow of worry etched into their faces during the journey, but young Nova’s eyes were focused on the simple joys of childhood. She delighted in tossing bread crumbs into the ocean, watching schools of fish dart to the surface, their shimmering scales reflecting the sun’s golden rays.

Their tranquil voyage was abruptly shattered when fortune turned against them. The notorious Celestra, flagship of a bloodthirsty pirate fleet, loomed ominously on the horizon. The marauders, led by the fearsome Captain Conrad Volger, were infamous for their ruthlessness, leaving only a handful of survivors to spread tales of their cruelty. Panic and chaos ensued as the Boundless was attacked. Nova’s parents fought valiantly but fell alongside the rest of the ship’s passengers and crew. In the midst of the carnage, Nova found a desperate refuge within an empty rum barrel, her tiny fingers clutching the wood as if it were a lifeline. The barrel, marked with the pirates’ brand, became a haunting emblem seared into her memory.

Days passed in a blur of hunger, thirst, and relentless sun as she drifted across the open sea. The once luxurious cruiser now seemed a distant dream. Her salvation came in the form of a merchant ship from the Kingdom of Dan. The sailors aboard took pity on the orphaned girl, and she was brought to their homeland, a kingdom very different from the one she once called home.

In Dan, Nova grew up with a burning resolve. She trained tirelessly, channeling her grief and anger into mastering the ways of the noble Paladin. Despite her family’s noble heritage and the fleeting memories of luxury, the world now treated her with indifference. She embraced the hardships of her new life, her heart hardened by vengeance. As a teenager, she met Ludovyn, a fellow trainee who became her closest confidant and first love. Their bond was strong, but fate, ever cruel, drove them apart.

As Nova reached adulthood, news of the pirates who had destroyed her family reached her ears like a siren’s call. Determined to avenge her parents and the others who had perished, she embarked on a perilous journey. Armed with her paladin training, a fierce will, and the scars of her past, she set off in pursuit of the Celestra, oblivious to the fact that her path would be fraught with unforeseen challenges and dark revelations.
