Ludovyn Marques

Half-Elvan | Monk <Way of the Shadow>
Half-Elvan | Monk <Way of the Kensei>
As a small child, he yearned to remain with the monks, dedicating his life to their teachings. Yet, once he grew older, he fell deeply in love with a girl, and the monks’ ultimatum tore them apart. The girl decided to break off their relationship to allow Ludovyn to pursue his studies. Heartbroken, Ludovyn left the monastery, forbidden to return. When he finally caught up with the girl, it was too late—she had rekindled a relationship with her ex-lover and was already engaged. Alone in the city, Ludovyn fused his knowledge of medicine and ink artistry, becoming a budding tattoo artist.
Ludovyn left his wealthy family when he was around 11. He left for no reason other than being a bored, stubborn shit. Had a little brother that always got him in trouble. The family rose in status when Ludovyn was gone. Ludovyn just wanted to get out and dirty and wander and fight. He wanted to see if he could make it in the wilderness alone. His family knew what he was up to and knew he was truly an untamed heart.
Ludovyn’s Story
Ludovyn left his wealthy family when he was around 11. He left for no reason other than being a bored, stubborn shit. Had a little brother that always got him in trouble. The family rose in status when Ludovyn was gone. Ludovyn just wanted to get out and dirty and wander and fight. He wanted to see if he could make it in the wilderness alone. His family knew what he was up to and knew he was truly an untamed heart.
He built a fort as a homebase and 9-year-old Nova came across it. They became friends and Nova would sometimes bring him bread and sweets in the winter. They would usually play fight and chase each other in the woods. Her family didn’t know about him and assumed he was her imaginary friend. As he grew closer to 15, he decided to set off again and got scooped up by traveling monks who took him to the monastery. He was excited to join and learn martial arts. He learned the power of calm and efficient force. He also learns to hold food in a sacred light. Though he is meant to be humble in many ways including food, he is a food snob after learning elite cooking skills from the monks.
As he was approaching 19, he became interested in things that the monks don’t normally engage in such as drinking and sex. After that, he left to be on his own again and took up ink artistry. He is now a traveling tattoo artist. No more than 10 years later, Ludovyn unexpectedly reunited with Nova during his travels. He decided to join her and her group on their adventures.
Together, Ludovyn, with his dearest friend Nova her group, embarked on a grand quest to defeat an encroaching darkness threatening the Kingdom of Dan. Their journey was perilous, but their bonds of friendship grew stronger with each challenge. After their victory, Ludovyn went to an old temple to meditate. In a moment of profound stillness, the air began to swirl around him, and in a flash of brilliant orange and pink light, he was transported to an unfamiliar place.
Now, we meet another Ludovyn — one from a different plane of existence.
However, his heavily inked appearance repelled potential clients. Desperate for acceptance, he heard of a settlement outside the main city of the Underdark, welcoming non-drow folks and outcasts. He decided to journey there, refining his martial arts abilities along the way.
During his journey, he was ambushed by a clan of drow rangers but was saved by a beautiful stranger who mistook him for a woman. This moment of confusion allowed Ludovyn to escape. The stranger, whose beauty had ensured their survival, became his guide to the settlement. Though Ludovyn found their parting bittersweet, the stranger left him a message, urging him to see his artistry embraced by those who would welcome him. Months later, Ludovyn returned to the surface to find his friend, but trouble soon found him again. Captured by a drow sorceress who saw past his beauty, Ludovyn was given a choice: become a servant to her patron and agree to marry her within a year or face dire consequences. Reluctantly, he agreed, his hair now marked with fiery red streaks, symbolizing his new patron. As a result, Ludovyn began multiclassing into a warlock.
Safely on the surface but burdened by his journey, Ludovyn meditated once more. The air around him crackled with energy, and in a flash of orange and pink light, he found himself in a temple—oddly familiar yet strangely foreign. Two Ludovyns, separated by planes of existence, each carrying the weight of their choices and destinies. Will the party recognize the profound changes in their beloved companion, or will this new Ludovyn blend seamlessly into their midst? Only time will tell.
